Community Service
Service Beyond the Mat: Empowering Our Community
At Thrive, we believe that true wellness extends far beyond the yoga mat. A healthy community is only as strong as its ability to care for its most vulnerable members.
We are proud to serve as a committed partner to the Montgomery County Family Justice Center (MCFJC) Foundation. While the Family Justice Center is a county-run initiative providing a safe, centralized hub for survivors of domestic violence, elder abuse, and teen dating violence, the Foundation provides the wraparound services that make recovery possible.
Bridging the Gap: Why the Foundation Matters
When someone faces the trauma of abuse, they don't just need one single resource—they need a lifeline. The Foundation provides the essential "wraparound" care that removes the barriers to healing.
Through the Foundation’s life-saving initiatives, families are able to access:
Emergency Relief: Critical support for immediate needs like lock changes, medical assistance, and emergency shelter.
SafeRide: Free, emergency transportation so survivors can reach safety without being tracked or limited by financial barriers.
YouthLine: Essential resources like school supplies, books, and summer enrichment packs to reduce isolation for children exposed to violence.
Essentials Support: Dignity-based aid, including gift cards and warm winter clothing, ensuring survivors feel seen and supported during their darkest hours.
Thrive Yoga’s Commitment
Susan Mondi Bowen proudly serves on the Foundation's Board of Directors, ensuring that our community’s commitment to service is not just theoretical—it is active, ongoing, and deeply rooted in the mission of safety, healing, and dignity for all.
We put this mission into action through:
The Annual Holiday Coat Drive: For five years, our community has come together to ensure that no child or adult leaves the Center in the cold. A new coat does more than provide warmth; it offers a profound sense of dignity and hope to those who have been stripped of it.
Make MoCo Purple: Each October, we join the county-wide campaign during Domestic Violence Awareness Month to raise visibility, fundraise, and connect individuals to resources before a crisis occurs.
Donation-Based Initiatives: Through specialized classes, community drives, and volunteer projects, we create accessible ways for our students to experience the power of service firsthand.
Participate
Many people want to give back but aren't sure where to begin. At Thrive we can strengthen our community, support those in need, and create positive change—one event, one act of kindness, and one person at a time.
“Thrive makes it easy to participate alongside friends who share your values.”
