Many on the path of yoga and self- discovery seek to deepen their knowledge and experience of yoga by studying ancient texts or by seeking wise teachers.  Thrive Yoga presents the Thrive ISHTA Yoga Teacher Training Program as part of our vision to bring a broad base of yogic teachings from teachers who have a deep understanding and experience of yoga.  Yogiraj Alan Finger, founder of ISHTA Yoga and lead teacher in the Teacher Training, began his study of yoga as a teen under the tutelage of his father, Mani who was first initiated by Paramahansa Yogananda (author of Autobiography of a Yogi, a teacher of Gandhi and founder of the Self-Realization Fellowship) and later studied with Sivananda (a medical doctor who lived by the words "serve, love, give, purify, meditate, realize").  Alan was graced by many of the leading lights of yoga, including Swami Venkatesananda (sage of practical wisdom helping to communicate challenging spiritual concepts in easy to understand & witty ways) Swami Nishraisananda (linked spiritual concepts & modern science) and tantric master Shuddhand Bharati.  Seeking to integrate all the different systems and teachings, ISHTA Yoga was created.

The ISHTA Yoga Teacher

You must be the change you wish to see in the world.
                                                                   Mahatma Gandhi

As an ISHTA trained yoga teacher, you will teach your students to integrate the physical and energetic tools of yoga.  Asana, pranayama and meditation combine into a seamless practice leading to individual self-awareness, inner and outer equilibrium and self-transformation.  ISHTA is the science that teaches the individual how to open and align the physical body AND the subtle energetic body.

Students will come out of this course learning how to bring joy, love, wisdom and inspiration into each moment of living.

Believing that the tantric state of liberation, bliss and acceptance is our natural state, and the return of that state is the intent of the yoga practice, an ISHTA yoga teachers guides the practice to bring together asana to stretch, strengthen, and release the physical body; pranayama and visualization to still and quiet the mind; and meditation to expand awareness to the universal state of bliss.
