Postnatal with Becki Portis Next held on Wed, Apr 5, 2017 at 10:00 am - 11:30 am
This enrollment runs from Wed Apr 5, 2017 - Wed Apr 26, 2017
$79 | Members get 20% discount

Postnatal Yoga is designed to heal the body from the inside out, rebuild stability, strength, and muscle endurance.

After 9 month's of extreme change it is important to approach a safe and corrective core and pelvic floor conditioning practice. The abdominal muscles need time and care to return to their pre-pregnancy condition, so hitting 100 crunches a day in a bid for a flat tummy can potentially cause more damage. We will blend breath and relaxation techniques (that most definitely will be needed through the challenges of parenthood) with a gentle, safe, and effective physical practice for the postpartum body.

This class will offer a relaxed environment that welcomes pre-crawling babies. Bringing baby to class is not a pre-requisite to attend class, this is simply a welcoming atmosphere for those that need it or are not ready to be away from baby. It is advised to get clearance from your Doctor before resuming physical exercise.

Yoga Nidra with Lisha Megginson Next held on Sun, Apr 30, 2017 at 4:00 pm - 5:15 pm
This enrollment runs from Sun Apr 30, 2017 - Sun May 21, 2017
$79 | Members get 20% discount

Yoga Nidra is a form of self-inquiry from the teachings of yoga said to induce deep relaxation throughout the body and mind, eliminate stress, overcome insomnia, solve personal and interpersonal problems, resolve trauma, neutralize and overcome anxiety, fear, anger and depression, as well as enter deep meditation in order to unravel the mystery of life. A regular Yoga Nidra practice will teach us how to stay connected to a state of well being, so that no matter what comes up in your life, you know how to connect with the part of yourself that is always at peace and at ease.

Starting this practice with 10-15 minutes of movement in order to bring your consciousness into the body, Yoga Nidra is traditionally practiced in a supported supine position. Through guided meditation you will observe and welcome various aspects of your waking existence, starting with the most dense form, the physical body, and then moving on through more subtle layers, such as breath, feelings, emotions, beliefs, and joy. Throughout the process you will discover and connect to the aspect of yourself that is always peaceful and at ease.

There will be space for integration and sharing as a group at the end of each practice.

Internal Garden Art: Fortify Your Emotional Landscape with Angelina Halpin Sun, Apr 30, 2017 at 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
$35 | Earlybird by April 16th $29

“Weeds are flowers too, once you get to know them.”
-Eeyore

Yoga nidra and art-making are two practices that enhance communication between the conscious and subconscious mind, leading to higher levels of awareness. During the nidra practice, our bodies are put to sleep while our mind maintains a one-pointed awareness. On the opposite end of the spectrum, during the art-making portion, our bodies are fully awake and actively functioning while our artistic process brings us to this space.

When our conscious mind is able to dialogue with deeper aspects of self, subconscious enlightenment has the potential to occur—leading to conscious integration. Achieving this clarity can be a fundamental turning point for manifesting our qualities of self into a cohesive, realistic whole.

As we reach the end of April and prepare to transition in to May, it is the perfect time to focus on inner growth and abundance! Explore what’s thrivin’ inside of you! As they say, April showers bring May flowers.

The goal of this workshop is to bring students in to a space where they can strengthen emotional awareness of Self. You will be taken through a yoga nidra meditation asking you to identify with, feel, explore, and observe your internal garden. What is present? Flowers? Trees? Animals? A combination of many things? What stands out? What is the weather like? After the nidra practice, you will use art materials to enhance feelings, colors, qualities, and images present in your internal garden.

This workshop is especially great for self-exploration, taking an observational role towards the Self, and breaking the pattern of unwanted repetitive thoughts.

Conversation. Community. Consciousness.

A very simple definition of consciousness is the state of being awake and aware of ones surroundings. When we practice asana, we are practicing presence as we move and breath on our mats, and this is just the beginning of that journey. Over the course of this 4 week series, Kristen will lead a conversation about what it means to live our lives as yogis off of the mat - how to practice presence in our everyday lives, how to raise our vibration, and different ways to live with intention for the sake of finding more peace and joy within ourselves, and our communitites. Each session will include a meditation, and action steps (soul work!) to practice week to week. We will also explore the six qualities of consciousness - Chit (wisdom) Svatantrya (freedom) Purnatva (perfection) Kula (sacred community) Shri (abundance) and rahasya (concealing and revealing) Come with an open heart, and expect transformation!

In this workshop series, you will learn more about adding lift to your yoga practice by playing with the ins and outs of crow pose, arm balance basics, core exercises, and a few different floating/jumping practices. Each pose and transition will have variations and progressions to move towards such as Ashtanga's jump throughs, or crow hop and transitions.

Throughout the 4 weeks of the workshop, we will layer on deeper practice/clinic time as understanding of safety and basics becomes more clear. Safety and foundation first! Then we will play with how to add these different transitions and skills into your yoga practice. By the end of the 4th week, you will have some new things to explore in your yoga practice.

Perfect for all levels of students, spouses & friends that are new to yoga! This is a great intro to yoga for a beginner. The advanced student will be equally as interested in specifically targeting yoga practices to reduce stress.  Expect asana, pranayama (breathing and energetic balance exercises), visualization, meditation.  Bring your sense of adventure and your sense of humor.  You have stress because you are living a full life!

“There is a way between voice and presence
where information flows.
In disciplined silence it opens.
With wandering talk it closes.”
—Rumi

When we chant in a circle, it is like a devotional singing lovefest - opening the heart by chanting in Sanskrit and English, with periods of meditation in between, honoring the many aspects of the Divine. The goal is to touch the stillness within, and the magic of chanting to the Vedic deities - Krishna, Ram, Shiva, Divine Mother, etc. - awakens energy from within that is healing, blessed, and filled with grace. We all are our own best friends!

Join Rufus Juskus, along with a few volunteer percussionists, for a community gathering in song, dance, and devotion. No matter what religion, what persuasion, or what label is attached, we are all in the same boat, going in the same direction, singing to the same Power that lives in us all!
