Embrace the power of healing touch through Thai Yoga Massage—an ancient form of therapeutic healing said to have originated in Thailand over 2,500 years ago during the time of the Buddha. It is rooted in the belief that vital energy (Prana) flows through a series of “Sen" channels in the body, (also known as Qi or Meridians), which create disease and discomfort when blocked.

Thai massage addresses imbalances in the physical, as well as, subtle/energetic body by combining acupressure, energy balancing, stretching, and yoga asanas. Thai massage is considered to be compassion in action and stems from metta, or loving-kindness, which is transmitted from the giver to receiver through touch.

  • Thai massage is received on a floor mat, instead of a table. Participants will remain fully clothed throughout the duration of the session.
  • Hands, feet, forearms, knees, and elbows will be used to apply point pressure, muscle stretching, and compression through a rhythmic movement of gentle rocking.
  • Benefits: increase flexibility and range of motion, improve postural alignment and circulation, increase energy levels, relieve physical/mental tension, induce deep meditative states of relaxation.
  • Proceed with caution if any of the following exist: injury or muscle inflammation, bone fracture or joint dislocation, fever, varicose veins, contagious skin diseases, cancer, and/or pregnancy.

It may not be apparent, but a powerful thread connects yoga and knitting.

After an initial learning curve, knitting is the pathway to joy, fun, and creativity. As you progress, your work will make you proud, and knitting in groups bring community together.

Dr. Herbert Benson, a pioneer in mind/body medicine and author of, “The Relaxation Response,” says that the repetitive action of needlework can induce a relaxed state like that is associated with meditation and yoga, according to a report in The New York Times.

In this 4-week progressive series, students will learn the basic 'knit' stitch and create wearable art: a beginner scarf. With instruction and support, students will practice their new skill in a small class, and will be encouraged to continue knitting between classes.

Felicia has been knitting since her teenage years, and with patience and guidance, helps new knitters through the common pitfalls. By the end of 4 weeks, students will be able to complete their scarf, and use their needles independently for another simple project!

Flying Solo: Learn to Handstand Without The Wall with Alison Heilig Sun, Dec 2, 2018 at 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
$35 | Early Bird price by Nov 18, $29

Alright, so you’ve kicked up into handstand at the wall ... now what? How exactly do you move your handstand away from the wall? Excellent questions.

As with everything in life, the way to build the strength and confidence necessary to handstand in the middle of the room is through repetition. But the Catch-22 is that in order to build familiarity through repetition, you actually have to be able to do the thing that’s repeated. This is often the barrier for people looking to move away from the wall.

In this workshop, we’ll break down the components of a solid handstand away from the wall into specific components and precise techniques that you can actually repeat and practice. We’ll use simple drills to help you support yourself rather than relying on the wall to do it for you.

Students will learn:

  • how to tap into and level-up your inner strength
  • set more productive boundaries
  • channel your energy more efficiently
  • stabilize and center yourself

Come experience the life-changing magic of the journey toward a wall-less handstand!

This workshop is appropriate for yogis of any level provided that you’re able to get into and are relatively comfortable in a wall-supported handstand or forearm balance.
