Beginner's Mind

In the beginner’s mind there are many possibilities
but in the expert’s mind, there are few.

Thrive yoga de-mystifies yoga and presents yoga so you can incorporate the benefits into your life, regardless of age, race or religion! Your yoga practice is individual to you. In yogic philosophy, it is written that the practice must resonate with the individual spirit (ishta sadhana).

Some guidance on your Thrive Yoga Class Choices:

Thrive offers many beginner-Level 1 classes on a drop-in basis. Thrive also offers a session-based class, Yoga Fundamentals, which is a series of classes geared toward the beginner seeking to learn the basic yoga postures (asanas) and yogic breathing.

Here are our recommendations for a beginning student at Thrive based on our feedback from Thrive students over the last three years.

If you are brand-new to yoga and starting yoga with little physical fitness, enroll in Yoga Fundamentals to learn the poses, get started on fitness AND to learn modifications for your body type.

If you are new to yoga and have been in an exercise program (walking, running, weight lifting) and desire to “know how to do it”, enroll in Yoga Fundamentals. If you desire to “know how to do it” AND want to use yoga for fitness, de-stressing and/or deepen awareness, enroll in Yoga Fundamentals and a first-time unlimited monthly series.

If you are new to Thrive Yoga and have some yoga experience, enroll in the special new student unlimited monthly and drop-in to the Level 1 classes first and then explore the other classes as you desire! If you still want more basics, enroll in Yoga Fundamentals.

We highly recommend the Breath & Meditation class to new students seeking to understand yogic breathing and the connection of breath and stillness with emotions and well-being.
