Describe yourself in three words: Radiant, Genuine, Strong
Why do you teach Yoga? Yoga makes me a better athlete and human being and that's the gift I want to share. Yoga brings much needed balance to my life. My practice has been a mirror, a comforter, a motivator, a guide, and so much more - always there to be whatever is necessary for each stage of my life.
Something surprising about you: In the not-so-distant past, I was super unhealthy, totally inactive and very overweight but I turned it all around. I quit smoking, ate real food, become an ultra-marathoner and triathlete, dropped 70 pounds, and gained a happy, healthy life in the process.
What inspires you? Courage, tenacity and authenticity in others.
What's the scariest thing on your bucket list? Hang-gliding
Training/Certifications: I completed my RYT200 Yoga Teacher Training at Thrive. I’m also an RRCA-Certified Running Coach, NASM-Certified Personal Trainer, Corrective Exercise Specialist and Women's Fitness Specialist. In January 2017, I’ll complete my Yoga for Athletes advanced teaching immersion with Sage Rountree.

Alison believes in working with your body, not against it. Her approach to teaching is compassionate and grounding. She encourages students to explore and experience movement in new ways in order to build body awareness, confidence and just generally be more comfortable in their own skin. In her classes — as well as in her own practice — she uses asana, breath and meditation as a means to develop greater strength, mobility and endurance for the body, mind and spirit.

Peter Francis

Describe yourself in three words:
Fiery, passionate, strong, easygoing, chill, calm, compassionate, empathetic

Why do you teach Yoga?
I've learned a lot from being a student, but I'm eager to learn so much more while teaching.

Something surprising about you:
I enjoy going out to eat at restaurants by myself lol

What inspires you?
Observing the change in other people's faces, body language and tone of voice when they speak about their passions. It's wonderful to witness and it inspires me to be true to myself.

What's the scariest thing on your bucket list?
Not too sure I even have a bucket list.. but if I had to choose, it would be to wrestle with a lion.

Training/Certifications:

I'm a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA. I'm currently finishing my 200-hour YTT through Thrive Yoga.

 

Peter first came to yoga as a way to stretch his body after sports and weight lifting, but quickly noticed his connection with yoga went much deeper than "just stretching". Peter uses yoga as a moving meditation to bring more awareness to his breath and his sense of self. He enjoys everything, from a hot and fiery class, to a deeply meditative and restorative class. Peter uses his physical therapy and personal training background to focus on integrating specific muscles which aid in alignment and stability in each posture. Peter believes yoga is for everyone, and creates a space for students to find what works best for their own bodies.

Becki Portis

Describe yourself in three words:
passionate, funny, inquisitive

Why do you teach Yoga? I like to get a lot in a little and that is what yoga is...I feel my calling is to serve, encourage, and help others. Yoga resonates with everything in my being and I want to live it fully and share it with others. To teach, keeps me centered and connected with my heart and instills a responsibility and commitment to learn as much as I want to know personally. Yoga heals and builds from the inside out and I want to be as much a part of that as possible. It is fitness for the body, mind, and soul. That's a three-fer all in one!

Something surprising about you: This is a tough question b/c I am pretty open and a ‘what you see is what you get’ kind of gal.
Maybe something good to know is that I sometimes make up my own words.

What inspires you? Yoga, Susan Bowen, My Mom, my children, my sisters, family, music, people, vulnerability, love, nature and life itself. Life is a gift.

What's the scariest thing on your bucket list? Although I do not consider this scary, I can not wait to swim with dolphins and I hope to get to do this with my mom because it is her dream too. However, the scariest thing on my bucket list is to be an entrepreneur.

Training/Certifications: I will be completing my 200 hour YTT with Thrive in December (2016). I have been studying and practicing vigorously since I started my training in March. I also teach children's yoga and am Reiki I and II certified.

Becki is a fit single mother of three that has consciously and successfully worked at getting her body back into pre-baby and even stronger shape through routine yoga practice. She religiously practices breath work, meditation, and relaxation techniques that keeps her grounded, strong, sane and happy as she juggles the infinite demands of parenthood and her career. She approaches asana as a practice to surrender, embrace, savor, and strengthen the mind, body, and spirit. Her sense of humor and uplifting energy create a comfortable and welcoming space to explore body/mind consciousness as she leads through encouraging, clear direction.

Kevin Platt

Describe yourself in three words: Playful, Caring, Grounding

Why do you teach Yoga?  I teach yoga because it is my passion to spread love and connection. I try to open space in my classes for compassion, intuition gratitude and integration in each student and often feel gitty in doing so. Yoga has been a blessing to me and I would like to help offer that gift to the world.

Something surprising about you: I was diagnosed with a spinal infection when I was 19. The infection eroded parts of my Lumbar Vertebra in my back. I went through 4 months of healing and decided that I was going to teach yoga. I wanted to help people to mindfully move and love their bodies and furthermore, to intuitively self-heal. That was when my real "Yogic Path" began.

What inspires you? Community, The human body, vulnerability, intuition, travel, nature, the unique nature of each individual, animals ( including humans)...

What's the scariest thing on your bucket list? Highlining over canyons

Where did you get your training/certifications? Kripalu 200 Hour YTT July 2013

 

Kevin, 200RYT, offers classes that are soulful, energetic expressions of life and yoga. He allows space and intention for creative expression and development of your own yogic practice, while celebrating the connection we each bring as individuals into one community. His connection to intention and meditation is clear and allows each yogi to know themselves on a deeper level.

Why do you teach yoga? It is a precious opportunity to spread light. Our world needs it!

Something surprising about you: I'm adopted and was born in Asuncion, Paraguay!

What inspires you? Human potential. Living with Intention and seeing it in action in myself and in others. Transformation. Knowing it is always at our fingertips. Music. Art.

What is the scariest thing on your bucket list? Writing a one woman show. Performing my own words on stage. In front of people. As an actor, it is much easier for me to perform other people's words. But mine? Totally different story!

Kristen is passionate about living yoga and supporting others in finding their unique gifts and sharing them with the world. She shares her own unique gifts as a yoga teacher - blending music, storytelling, and her light-hearted spirit - in hopes of offering a relaxed, safe space for students to find ease in their minds and bodies.

A well-rounded yoga class exploring postures (asanas); breathing exercises and energy balance (pranayama). Classes include training in: pose alignment; relaxation techniques; concentration, meditation. Expect to improve your overall sense of well-being.
